A secret information was received about an illegal call centre operating in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, that defrauds innocent people in the name of providing loans. During the investigation, it was discovered that the call centre had been operational since February 2022. According to the examination of the registers and subsequent interrogation and investigation conducted since February 22 to date, the accused have defrauded over 1700 innocent people. A total of 29 registers with a list of contacted people and money transactions were recovered. The amount defrauded from these individuals is likely to exceed one crore rupees.
A total of 12 people, six men and six women, who work in the call centre, were found at the cited premises. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 761/22 U/s 420/120B/34 IPC was registered at PS Bindapur.
