To mark the World Environment Day on 5.6.23, Green Circle, Dwarka held a
Green Society contest among all CGHS of Dwarka, Delhi to identify the best society.
About 50 societies of Dwarka participated in the contest. The contest was held in two rounds.
In the first round, all 300 plus societies of Dwarka were administered Google
questionnaire wherein the Management of the Societies were asked to respond on
various green parameters such as Waste segregation at source, Green Cover, rain
water harvesting, solar energy utilization, overall cleanliness and ambience.
Romilla Gandhi, Chitra Jain, Abha Gupta and Raj Agnihotri were the members of
the jury, who shortlisted Brahma Apartment, Sec 7, Ispatika Apartment, Sec 4,
Jaypee Apartment, Sec 22, Joy Apartment Sec 2 and Skylark Apartment, Sec 6, Unique Apartment,
Sec 6 Vidyut Apartment, Sec 12 as the top seven best green societies eligible
for the award.
In the finalnround of screening for the first 3 places, the assessment was done by 3 member Jury
consisting of Dr Chander Mohan Bhagat, Medical practitioner and nature lover,
Pankaj Kumar Datta, Certified environmentalist in Green Schools Program and K
Vaidyanathan, President of DTEA Schools Alumni Association and environmental activist.
The jury members personally visited all the seven shortlisted societies and judged
them on the basis of parameters namely Horticulture maintenance, tree
plantation, Solid Waste management, composting, solar panels and energy saving
efforts, Rainwater harvesting and cleanliness of society premises.
The award function was held on 5.6.23 at Icon International School Sec 6 Dwarka . Abhishek
Sharma, Dy Commissioner of South Delhi Municipal Corporation was the Chief
Guest for the program and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Ex Mayor, Councillor, Dwarka, MCD
was the Guest of honor Reena Kapoor, Director, Icon International School, Payal
Madan Arora, CEO and the President of Go fitness academy and CEO
& The President Go Fitness Academy, Robin Sharma, Sub Editor, Dwarka
Express & Gen Secy, ADRF Dwarka were the special Invitees. Explaining the process followed by Green Circle to select the best Green Society, Green Circle Founder Secretary V
Selvarajan announced the following names. First prize : Jaypee Apartment Sec 22
Dwarka, Second prize : Skylark Apartment Sec 6 Dwarka, Third prize : Bhrama
Apartment Sec 7 Dwarka. Consolation prizes were awarded to Joy Apartment,
Ispatika apartment , Vidyut Apartment and Unique Apartment. Icon International School,
Dwarka Express and Gofitness Academy sponsored the program. Thanking Green
Circle for choosing Jaypee as best green Society, President of the Society, Commander
VK Jaitly said, "We are very conscious about protecting our environment.
As responsible citizens, our baby steps by all the residents can do
wonders" He added, "If we don't throw Kachra at all and
deposit that in proper dust bins, our surroundings, streets, shopping malls etc
will always remain clean”
Earlier, A K Saigal presided over the meeting and
welcomed the gathering. Vote of thanks was proposed by Joint Secretary Vishal
Lall. Preeti Jain was the Master of the Ceremony.
