A complaint on MHA Cyber Crime Reporting Portal from complainant Shri Vikram R/o Uttarakhand Enclave, Burari Delhi, who works for renowned IT Firm in Hyderabad, was received in Cyber Police Station wherein he alleged that he has been duped of Rs 1,49,000/- through an online gaming website WWW.FUNPLAY9.COM on the pretext of playing online games. Upon this inducement complainant transferred Rs.1,49,000/- as registration and play charges. Subsequently, a Case vide FIR No 02/2023 Dated 05/01/2023 PS Cyber North was registered and investigation was Undertaken.
TEAM & INVESTIGATION:
Continuing the drive against Cyber fraudsters, who were duping gullible citizens, a dedicated team of police station Cyber North led by SI Guman Singh comprising SI Ranjit, ASI Mahesh, and HC Kaluram, under supervision of Inspector Pawan Tomar, SHO/Cyber Police Station North and guidance of Shri Dharmender Kumar, ACP/Operations busted the interstate syndicate operating from various places viz Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Bangalore, Delhi etc and enticing online gamers and gullible people across the country. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, above said dedicated team was handed over the task to identify accused persons and arrest the culprits. Detail technical analysis of Call Detail Records & Money Trail was carried out continuously which revealed that suspects mobile numbers used for were having volatile locations in Durg, Bhilai & Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Bangalore in Karnataka and in Delhi. The cheated amount was transferred to several bank accounts of Federal Bank and Union Bank. Sustained efforts were also made to trace the host of alleged gaming websites but did not yield any concrete clue about accused persons.
The police team then mounted continuous technical surveillance of suspect mobile numbers which zeroed on the location of accused persons in Chhattisgarh but still pinpointed location of accused persons remained elusive as accused persons were using SIM Cards and bank accounts procured on fake identity. Further surveillance confirmed that accused had changed their base
from Chhattisgarh to Delhi just a few days ago. Further analysis of alleged phone numbers revealed that one accused person has online ordered food through popular food platform Swiggy.
Subsequently SI Guman Singh in co-ordination with Swiggy officials disguised himself as delivery boy and went to deliver the food ordered by them. Accused persons had been residing on 4th floor of a rented flat situated in Nawada Uttam Nagar, Delhi which was equipped with double
gate i.e. one stainless steel grill gate in stairs and one at opening of flat. SI Guman went to deliver the food and as soon as one of the accused persons opened the gate at stairs to receive the food SI Guman Singh nabbed him and the team arrived which led to arrest of 3 accused persons. Later on accused persons revealed that they kept both the gates locked so that in case of any suspicion crucial evidence such as mobile Phones and SIM cards could be destroyed.
