A Literary Day was held at National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) in Dwarka. This showcased the university’s holistic and humanistic approach towards the education of the law students. According to the organizer of the events, Prof. (Dr.) Prasannanshu all technical education should be imbued with elements of literature, and language to give a balanced outlook to the students and for their personality development. He hastened to add that such an approach is generally lacking in technical institutes in India, however NLUD is an exception as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ranbir Singh has a vision for holistic education and takes a personal interest in the promotion of such activities. Six plays viz. Antigone by Sophocles; God Sees the Truth But Waits by Tolstoy; The Merchant of Venice (The Courtroom Scene) by Shakespeare; The Benefit of the Doubt by Jack London;A Malefactor by Anton Chekhov; and the Great Trial of MK Gandhi were staged. Several senior poets judged the poems, and declared the Hindi poem of Ms. Suchta,a research scholar from JNU as the best entry, and she won the first prize, followed by three English entries of NLU, Delhi students, viz.VineetKansotia (second prize), and AsthaGangwal and Shruti Srivastava who shared the third prize.
