Pan-India ‘Digital Arrest’ Scam Busted by Cyber Police – Five Arrested, Huge Recovery Made
In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Police Station, Central District, has busted a Pan-India cybercrime syndicate involved in running the infamous “Digital Arrest” scam. The accused were allegedly posing as law enforcement officials to extort money from innocent victims by threatening them with fake legal actions. During the operation, five accused were arrested from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, following an investigation into a complaint where a victim was cheated of ₹19 lakhs.
The police recovered a huge cache of incriminating materials, including 14 mobile phones, 40 cheque books, 33 SIM cards, 15 company stamps, 22 stamp papers, 19 debit cards, 14 PAN cards, 7 digital signatures, an internet banking key, debit/credit card swap machine, IDFC Bank scanner, and one luxury car.
As per the National Cyber Crime Portal data, several bank accounts linked to the recovered cheque books were found to be involved in 473 cybercrime complaints across India, including 24 cases from Delhi in 2025.
DCP Central District, IPS Nidhin Valsan briefed the media about the case during a press conference, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the Cyber Police team that led to the successful bust of this organized cyber syndicate. One of the arrested individuals has also been identified as a proclaimed offender in a similar case registered earlier at the Cyber Police Station, New Delhi District.
This operation once again underscores the growing threat of “Digital Arrest” scams and the continued commitment of Delhi Police Cyber Units to protect citizens from evolving online frauds.
