On 29.11.24, HC Azad Akhtar, while patrolling in the area found Mohd Adil, BC of PS New Usmanpur in a suspicious condition, consequent upon he took him into Gautam Vihar Police Booth for the purpose of interrogation. Meanwhile, brother of Adil namely ‘Bawla’ who is also BC of PS New Usmanpur along with 3-4 women arrived at the Police Booth and they all started abusing and beating HC Azad Akhtar. BC Bawla tore the uniform of HC Azad Akhtar and Mohd Adil attack on his chest with a sharp weapon causing grievous injury to HC Azad Akhtar. Thereafter, all the assailants fled from the spot. HC Azad Akhtar was shifted to JPC Hospital for treatment. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 660/24 U/S 221/132/109(1)/3(5) BNS was registered in PS New Usmanpur and investigation was taken up.
OPERATION AND ARREST:
During course of investigation, secret information regarding hide out of accused Mohd. Adil was received by Spl. Staff/NED & PS New Usmanpur. The information was further developed, and it was established that the accused is armed with a sophisticated weapon. Working upon the information, a police team led by Inspr. Dheeraj, IC/Spl. Staff and comprising of SI Pawan Malik, ASI Rajeev Tyagi, ASI Amit Tyagi, HC Sachin, HC Amit, HC Pardeep, HC Sushil, HC Amir, Const. Sumit and Const Robin of PS New Usmanpur was constituted under the supervision of ACP/Ops/NED and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team adopting all precautionary measures, carefully started combing operation in the jungle area of 3rd Pushta of Yamuna Khadar.
After a brief search, the police team located and zeroed-in on the accused. The accused was challenged by the team and asked for surrender but paying no heed to police warning he whipped out a pistol and indiscriminately fired upon police team. Assessing the situation, and left without any option, the police team also retaliated and fired 02 shots from service pistol in self-defense. One of the bullets hit the accused in right leg and he was overpowered by the team. One semi-automatic pistol along with a cartridge was recovered from his possession.
Later, the injured accused was taken to GTB hospital for treatment.
