Eco-Wise Mulakaat With Anurag Ranjan Singh, Producer - Aajtak

What does a person wanting to know reliable latest news do? Obviously, switch on the TV and watch Aajtaak-Sabse Tej! Early in the morning as you are glued to Shatak Aajtak that comprises of hundred news headings, there is someone behind the screen who is simultaneously working swiftly compiling and writing news to be sent to anchor. This is done by news producer Anurag Ranjan Singh. Anurag’s journey to Aajtak as news producer is an inspiring journey full of struggle but of firm will and determination. The key to his success is never to give up and remain optimistic in all situations. He believes that if
one aim for the sky he will at least reach the lamp-post. Anurag Ranjan Singh had breezed through life with little care in initial years. Born and brought up in a small town in UP, Anurag went to Banaras where he did his graduation from Banaras Hindu University. His parents wanted him to take up science and become doctor but Anurag was keen on doing Fine arts though he ended up taking sociology. He lacked the ambition his father so desired in him though he was, according to himself, curious about the world from a young age. He then moved to Delhi in search of a job. Meanwhile he also started his preparation for Civil Service exams and did appear once. But then he realised that he wouldn't enjoy
the job of a civil servant, if he ever got selected for it. So instead of preparing for the civil
services' examination again, he chose, much to his father's disappointment, a job he thought his curiosity and interest in current affairs would be more naturally inclined to. Anurag thus started his career with print media. He worked for Dainik Bhaskar, Sahara Samay and Jansatta. Over the next few years, he moved to a string of other publications in Delhi, covering various beats, from politics and health to the environment. In between he also did a course in Journalism. Anurag’s career mirrors the rapid changes that have occurred in the country's media industry. He learnt journalism at various publications before shifting, like other ambitious journalists, to the then exciting new industry of TV news. In between he also worked with a community radio - Radio Dwarka. Comparing print and electronic media, Anurag says that he prefers print media as it is only in print
one can get immense satisfaction. Your byline in morning newspaper is a reward in itself. But in electronic media it is the teamwork and individual cannot claim for any breaking news or successful broadcast. One thing Anurag was passionate about since college days was poetry. Anurag has written poetry on various topics that ranges from Romantic to Patriotism and now Philosophy and Spiritualism also. On his job as news producer Anurag explains that TV news producers are the behind-the-scenes
professionals who make the network and on-air story look great. Working as a TV news producer can be a highly demanding, yet very rewarding career. Working in this job typically means you're given the task of writing and managing a daily newscast from start to finish. Thus one needs to have a good command over language and flair of writing too. During the newscast, being a news producer requires timing
stories, weather and sports to make sure the newscast ends on time.
