Meet Bantu Singh | Former First Class Cricketer and a Renowned Cricket Coach from New Delhi | Part 1

In this two parts episode, we delve into the roots of the cricketing world with Shri Bantu Singh. Bantu Singh is one of the well known cricket personalities from the capital city, Delhi. He has played first class cricket for Delhi for a period of ten years (85/86-95/96). In his playing years, Bantu Singh was a right-handed batting specialist, aggregating 3795 runs at first class, including 11 centuries and various big match winning innings. He is the only cricketer from Delhi to score two centuries in two Ranji Trophy finals, -179 versus Bengal (1988/89, and 123(1991/92) versus Tamil Nadu. Bantu Singh's highest score of 214 came against East Zone, while representing North Zone, in a match at Eden Gardens, on 30th November 1994.

Bantu Singh hails from Delhi Gymkhana Cricket Club, a legendary cricket club started by his father, Late Shri Dilbagh Singh. Dilbagh Singh, was one of the well known cricket personalities in Delhi, who did a lot of sacrifices to promote the game of cricket at the grassroots. He was a supporter of a high number of cricketers throughout his years of service. His sheer passion and love for cricket is well known and inspirational. The club is currently operating in Central Delhi, wherein they effort and continue with the virtue and merits of old school cricketing principles and some new school cricketing teachings and philosophies. Bantu Singh also gives credit to Sir Bishan Singh Bedi, the legendary Indian Cricketer for his - mentorship, insights and trainings, which helped him become a fine cricketer and achiever in life.
In this two parts interview, Bantu Singh eloquently speaks about various facets of the ever changing game. He boldly recommends the right action plans, gently reasons with the decision makers and takes his strike again on the batting crease to score for the upliftment of Cricket at the grassroots.
