OSR Charitable Trust bats for devotion without creating pollutionYou need a browser with JavaScript!
Have you wondered how should the waste or garbage collected from pooja at home be disposed of? Should they be left unattended at your neighbourhood peepal tree or immersed in the rivers? Certainly not. "Dwarka-based OSR Charitable Trust aims to make India pooja-waste free India," say Vinod Gupta and Ajit Johri, founders of the Trust.
The trust came into being eight years ago, and it is currently active in Dwarka.
The founders highlighted various ways to deal with pooja waste and how they collect it from not just the city but offer their services across the country. Waste is mostly ash, garland and idols and it is either recycled or immersed in the flowing water, but without creating any pollution. "Our annual service charge is Rs 1101 that includes monthly waste collection and disposal at our end. If the services are availed once a year, we charge Rs 251," Gupta said.
