Bhojpuri singer Indu Sonali ready with Holi albumYou need a browser with JavaScript!
Bhagalpur born singer Indu Sonali, who has lent her voice to more than 300 Bhojpuri films, hails from a family of musicians and singers.
Sonali started off with stage shows in her hometown. "I had once attended a Mata Ki Chowki, and happened to sing by chance. By God's grace, my voice was loved and appreciated by people, and from there I started getting offers to perform," she says, reminiscing about her journey.
Though Sonali isn't a native speaker of Bhojpuri, she learned it more on the job. She first moved to Patna in search of singing opportunities and from there to Mumbai.
Her first song was a Bhajan for an album and accidently landed an offer to sing for a Bhojpuri film. "I happened to be at the right place at the right time. The song was ready, but they didn't have a singer. I sang a dummy song for Pandit Ji Batai Na Biya Kab Hoi, and one and all loved it. It marked my entry into playback singing," she says.
Sonali has sung in Marathi, Odiya and Telugu.
Even though she has a huge fan following, she is an ardent fan of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle and Sharda Sinha.
Her Holi album is due for release, and she seemed quite kicked about it. Apart from this, her devotional album is also about to hit the market.
"My family has supported me all through. I thank my parents, in-laws and husband for all that I could do," he says.
