In a freewheeling chat with Radio Dwarka, actor Vinay Rohrra, a familiar face on the small screen, tells us about he entered the showbiz as a kid and has stayed put since then.
"My parents got a couple of pictures clicked and circulated it among casting directors and producers. Work started pouring soon after. I worked as a child actor for a few years and then left it to continue studies," Rohrra said.
Years later, after completing his undergrad degree in commerce, he made a comeback. But it wasn't easy. "My mother has been my biggest support through thick and thin."
He also clarified that unlike popular perception, it is tough being an actor and there is a lot of stress and pressure; the daily struggle is unnerving, and the first casualty is sleep. "I work for 14 hours on a regular basis. There are so many personal sacrifices that we have to make and without any hassle," he said.
An actor goes through a lot but can't show it, he told.
Acting is a continuous process, and one keeps learning throughout, he said about his experience so far.
On his character Sharad Ghotala of Bade Door Se Aaye Hain, Rohrra said, "I thoroughly enjoy my romantic role in the serial. And I love every bit of picturising romantic numbers that take the love angle with my female co-star Ana a notch higher."
A lot of hard work goes into filming an episode, he said on his acting career for television.
He started off as Ranbir in Ranbir Rano that was aired on Zee TV. It was followed by Bajirao in Laagi Tujhse Lagan on Colors, Vinod in Shubh Vivah on Sony TV, Raj in Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava? on Life OK, Ankur in Yeh Hai Aashiqui on Bindaas and Sharad Ghotala in Badi Door Se Aaye Hain for SAB TV.
Fitness ranks high on his priority and "it is important to stay fit to stay here." "I idolize King Khan. He puts in a lot for a simple scene and his dedication, acting and talent are inspirational."
For an actor, it is all about time management. "He has to do it all and do it well to stay in showbiz," he said.
