In this episode, our guest Vikas Sharma, co-founder of Goalchi Capital Solutions LLP, tell us how he started his journey in financial services industry with a firm in wealth planing company way back in 2003, went on to add a master's degree in financial planning and earn another one, CFP. He joined Reliance Mutual Funds and stayed on there for nine and a half years, and started a company with a former Reliance colleague two years ago. Asset allocation is an important aspect of investment management. "There are four types of asset classes - fixed deposits and bonds, equity, real estate and gold. One needs a combination of different classes to make gains," he says. But asset allocation varies from individual to individual. "It depends on risk tolerance, investment tenure, desired results, tax bracket, etc.," he quickly adds. Diversification means dividing while asset allocation means dividing your investment into different asset classes. "Mutual fund offers a variety of products and can become an important tool for asset allocation," he says. For the listeners, he had an important piece of advice: one must consult and take the advice of a financial advisor to reap maximise gains on investment.
