In the third episode of our fortnightly programme, our host Rahul Ranjan reviews SBI Magnum Multiplier Fund. It is an old fund that has been a consistent performer for the last 24 years. Feb 28, 1993. It was a close-ended scheme initially but was turned into an open-ended plan five years after its launch. It can be safely kept in the equity-multi-cap category that means a fund manager can invest funds in large cap, mid cap or small cap companies. The benchmark S&P is BSE 200 index.
The scheme objective is to provide long-term capital appreciation or dividend along with liquidity of an open-ended scheme to an investor. The fund has a focused, multi cap strategy in which high growth companies are chosen for long-term returns for an investor.
The minimum fund can be either a lump sum investment of Rs 5000 or a SIP of minimum Rs 500 per month. It's alpha positive is 7.7.
Fund manager Saurabh Pant, who comes with 10 years of experience, has been managing this fund since last year, shares his insight, experiences and thoughts about handling it.
"If you want long-term growth for your money, then invest in equity class. It is an essential class, and a must in an investor's portfolio," says Pant.
