With an aim to create awareness on health hazard of tobacco, Artemis Hospital, Sector 20, Dwarka organized a health talk in collaboration with Sahaj Sambhav- NGO and Knowledge 360 to mark the celebration of World No-Tobacco Day. People from all walks of life from Dwarka participated in the talk with great enthusiasm.
On the occasion, Dr. HS Darling, Associate Consultant- Medical Oncology spoke about the need for proper awareness of tobacco control and encourage smoke-free environment. He said, "It is really important to educate youngsters about the harmful effects of smoking, chewing and consuming tobacco. Continuous use of tobacco is very dangerous for our body and one may develop mouth or lung cancer, respiratory diseases, asthma and TB."
Expressing concern about passive smoking, Dr. Darling said smoking cigarette is not only harmful to those who consume it but it is equally dangerous for the passive smoker.
While interacting with the denizen, Dr. Ashish Agarwal, Consultant Cardiologist and interventionist said, "Smoking can damage the heart and blood vessels which can increase the risk for heart disease. There is a need to sensitize people towards tobacco and its effects on human health. This is a deep-rooted problem and we need to have a holistic approach to eliminate it."
In the interactive session, participants were able to learn more about tobacco control and clear their doubts about smoking and its effects on health.
