Inter Presidium Cricket Tournament 2016-17: The Excitement Begins

It was a dynamic display of talent and sportsmanship at the 1st Inter Presidium Delhi NCR Talent Hunt Primary Boys Cricket Championship 2016-17, which started today, at Presidium Dwarka 16B and Ashok Vihar. The occasion was graced by the benign presence of the Chief Guest, Ms. Suman Sharma, the fielding coach of India’s women’s cricket team; Director Sports of Presidium Schools-Mrs. Meena Joshi, and Vice Principal of Presidium Ashok Vihar-Mrs. Ragni Mansukhani.
Two sets of matches were played between four teams. The first set of match was between Presidium Ashok Vihar Zone and Presidium Indirapuram Zone. Team Ahsok Vihar won the toss and decided to bat first and achieved a score of 71 in 10 overs. But the able players of Team Indirapuram chased the score with great determination and registered a win by 5 wickets.
Shashwat from Indirapuram won the ‘Star Performer of the Day’ while the ‘Best Batsman Award’ was bagged by Shresth from Ashok Vihar and the ‘Best Bowler Award’ went to Laksh from Indirapuram.
The second set of match was played between Presidium Sonipat and Presidium Rajnagar wherein, Sonipat team was able to make a mark by putting up a good score of 100 runs and ultimately won the match by 73 runs.
Krishna from Sonipat won the ‘Star Performer of the Day’ by scoring 62 runs, the ‘Best Batsman Award’ was bagged by Mannu and ‘Best Bowler Award’ went to Rakshit from Sonipat.
Ms. Sharma commended the efforts of Presidium to bring up the talent of these players from the grass root level at such a platform. Such tournaments indeed help in identifying the potential of these children and also lay a foundation in honing their talents as a cricket player. The tournament proved to be an eventful day with a promise of a bright future for the young talented players of Presidium.
