Wonder Woman | Manjoo Dube | Education is empowerment

In this episode, Radio Dwarka invited educationist Manjoo Dubey to know more about her eventful journey, thoughts on the education system and depleting moral values among students.
Dubey comes from a conservative family, but with a difference. "My mother was highly educated, and she used to lay considerable emphasis on education for all, especially girls. She had a readymade threat if we dilly-dallied in studies. She used to say that if we didn't score well in exams, she would get us married off to a remote village with no modern amenities."
Her mother's intimidations worked wonders, and she excelled in academics, completing most of her education on scholarship. "She was keen that I should become an IAS officer."
Her mother's untimely demise, when she was 18, changed the course of life; she got married, had children but still continued her studies even after that. She completed her master's in Sanskrit, English, and Education, and even did her MPhil. She went on to join Kendriya Vidyalaya as a teacher. "The job with KVS gave me an opportunity to explore the unseen India. My first posting was at Ranchi, and since then, I have served at KVs across the country, before moving to Delhi."
A perfectionist by nature, she did not compromise on any of her duties and obligations, be it domestic, children, or professional commitments. "I never ignored my responsibilities but prioritized them well."
However, she regretted that the moral values among children have depleted over the years. "Today's children have a lot of support and encouragement from their parents, but there is a lack of sensitivity, sensibility, patience and endurance among them."
