In this episode, Rahul Ranjan will present and review TATA Balanced Fund. It is a hybrid equity fund that is a mix of debt and equity and has been performing consistently since last 21 years.
The scheme's purpose is to provide income distribution and or medium to long term capital gains and is only for those who have a moderate to high-risk appetite. Its portfolio orientation is based on the use of equity for capital appreciation and debt for capital gains.
Murthy Nagarajan, who manages it on the debt side, says, "Think of your time horizon. If you have money for three months, invest in liquid fund or money market fund. If your money can last for three months to one year, then invest in ultra short term bond funds, and if you have money for more than a year then go for short term funds."
Pradeep Gokhale, who manages it on the equity side, says "It is a promising asset class in the long run as one can expect good returns. Save a fixed part of your monthly income and invest systematically in equity fund for long term wealth creation."
