Massive arrangements have been made for Ramleela 2017 to be held at Ramleela Ground, Sector 10, Dwarka. Rajesh Gehlot, Chief Patron, Dwarka Shri Ramleela Society, says, "We have been organising this Ramleela since years. We are No. 1 in the way Shri Ram’s life is depicted through the Ramleela performed here. We have a huge space which is spread over 9 acres that can accommodate 10,000 audience."
Dwarka Shri Ramleela Society boasts of the tallest effigy of Ravana in the country i.e. 125 ft. The society also sends a strong social message to the people to put an end to any evil practice from the society. Last year, an effigy of Pakistan was burned to stop terrorism. "This year, we plan to burn an effigy of China to send a message to boycott Chinese goods. It aims to sensitize people to use goods made in India to promote local Indian artists and strengthen the small-scale industries and Indian economy," says Gehlot.
Special attention has been given to stage decoration, the stage being 140 ft in length and 60 ft in breadth. The backdrop is 92 ft in height and showcases Raja Dashrath’s Surya Palace. This year’s Ramleela will also have 3D and animation effects along with the actual performance of Ramleela by the artists. The artists performing the Ramleela have been sourced through open auditions held six months before the Ramleela and they belong to different backgrounds.
Special security arrangements have been made by installing around 100 CCTV’s spread across Ramleela ground and parking space and deploying 100 Civil Defense volunteers along with 50 private security guards. At each entrance, metal detector gates have been installed so none can enter the ground without passing through the security checks. Also, three insurance companies will cover artists, volunteers and also the audience.
Children’s entertainment has also been given a lot of importance hence organizing new and enjoyable rides to be put up in partnership with Splash Water Park. Food stalls from famous food joints from across Delhi will be put up to enjoy delicious food options for the audience. Cleanliness has also been on their mind thus deploying cleaning staff in huge numbers and setting up dustbins at various places for ease of the people.
